VAL Assistant
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 8, 2026
VAL Assistant ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that suggests comments and replies for LinkedIn posts in your voice. It only ever suggests text for you to copy — it never posts, sends, or submits anything on your behalf.
This policy explains exactly what data the extension touches and what (very little) is stored.
What the extension does with post text
When you click "Suggest" on a post (or "Reply all" on your own post), the text of that post and its comments is sent to our service to generate suggestions:
- The text is sent to our processing service (a Google Apps Script endpoint we operate) and from there to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), which generates the suggested comment.
- This text is used only to generate your suggestions in that moment. We do not store it, log it, or build a profile from it, and it is not used to train any model.
- No AI API key is required from you — the service handles that. You do not enter or store any API key.
What we collect and store
We store one thing, and only if you choose to share it:
- Your LinkedIn profile URL — collected only if you click "Get started" on the welcome screen. It is stored in a private spreadsheet so we know who is using the tool. If you click "Skip," nothing is collected.
That's the only personal data we store. We do not collect your name separately, your email, your password, your contacts, your browsing history, or the content of your posts and comments.
What stays on your device
Your extension settings (such as how many suggestions to show, and any custom voice you set) are stored locally in your browser only, using Chrome's storage. They are not sent to us.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not share your data with third parties, except the AI provider named above strictly to generate your suggestions.
- We do not post, message, connect, or take any action on LinkedIn for you.
- We do not track your activity across other websites.
Your choices
- You can decline data collection by clicking "Skip" on the welcome screen.
- You can stop all data sharing at any time by removing the extension.
- To have your stored LinkedIn URL deleted, email veta.danielyan@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Third-party services
- Anthropic (Claude API) processes post text to generate suggestions. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Google Apps Script / Google Sheets is used to operate the processing endpoint and to store opt-in LinkedIn URLs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date.
